The Accounts Payable Accountant performs accounting duties associated with Accounts Payable; verifies and posts financial data for maintaining accounting records; verifies and posts business transactions regarding funds disbursed; totals and balances all accounts; computes and records charges, refunds and complies invoices and checks to substantiate business transactions; tracks and performs any collection duties for all past due or short pay accounts; maintains documentation that adequately supports transactions and communicates with the appropriate parties or organizations to ensure accounts are kept current.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Perform the day to day processing of financial transactions to ensure that agency finances are maintained in an effective, up to date manner by receiving, recording and processing for payment all invoices by the agency and applying them to the appropriate accounts, maintaining records of activity and balances due.
Produce disbursement schedules for appropriate approval; process the disbursements and issue the checks, entering disbursement data into computer and generating relative reports; process disbursements from the Designated Fund (capital acquisitions); close out accounts payable files on computer on a monthly basis.
Compile records, create and prepare reports, spreadsheets and documents; prepare journal entries for processing by the Accountant.
Prepare bank disbursement reports and appropriate documentation.
Process credit card receipts as well as petty cash requests.
Operate within the guidelines of the Employee Handbook, department Operations Manual, and agency policies and procedures.
Demonstrate commitment to the social sector with a passion for MCHS’s mission and vision.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Accountants/Sr.
Accountant/CFO.
Education and Experience:
Associates degree and one (1) year of bookkeeping or accounting experience
Experience with Accounts Receivable/Payable preferred; or
Any appropriate combination of education and experience necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position
Computer and software applications (Windows, MS Office, Internet applications, etc.
) necessary to perform the duties of the position.
Principles and practices of accounting and bookkeeping.
