Job Title Position Title: Program Associate II - Audit Location: Office of Finance Salary: $42,247 - $70,690 Reports to: Senior Director of Payroll Bargaining Unit: OSAS Benefits Eligible: Yes Telecommuting Eligibility: Eligible for telecommuting up to 20% (one (1) day per week) In accordance with the Agreement between the Organization of School Administrators and supervisors and the Detroit Public School Community District the following vacancy is announced: Position Summary: The Program Associate II function is to perform activities related to the Districts payroll auditing and support activities.
Ensure the highest standard of reporting, customer service, compliance with district's policies and internal operating procedures.
Minimum Qualifications: 60 college credit hours and in lieu of degree candidates with sufficiently demonstrated experience effectively supporting PeopleSoft payroll and time reporting audit function in an educational setting.
Must have a minimum of five (5) years of combined payroll and time reporting audit experience in a large complex payroll environment.
Experience in working with PeopleSoft HCM.
Extensive experience in auditing reported time and identifying issues.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams.
Ability to work and interact with various levels of management.
Ability to train people from diverse backgrounds.
Interacting with users and technical community to assess needs.
Essential Functions: Collect, audit, and process biweekly payrolls in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
Supervise and monitor daily payroll activities of subordinates to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll data.
Provide training to Payroll and Audit staff regarding policy and procedure, where required.
Maintain the current status of department goals and objectives.
Maintain the current status of collective bargaining agreements and recommend Office of Payroll changes and responses.
Work closely with Assistant Directors of the Payroll Department to create a problem-solving environment within the Payroll Department and between Payroll Department and other inter-related departments.
Participate in supervisory meetings and associated payroll decision-making, as required.
Recommend improvements, where possible, to manual and technical processes related to Payroll.
Analyze, troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application problems.
Act as a liaison between Payroll and outside vendors, when needed.
Communicate effectively with users, management and third-parties.
Oversee and coordinate the work of Information Technology Support staff, when needed.
Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Director or designee.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Program Supervisor.
Security Clearance: Internal Applicants If you are a current Detroit Public Schools Community District employee, you do not have to submit to a new security clearance, unless your new role requires a different type of criminal background check.
