POSITION SUMMARY Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan is seeking an Accountant I to work in our administrative department in Southfield, Michigan.
The Accountant I is responsible for payroll processing and recording, assisting the Accounting Supervisor with month-end activities and reconciling accounts.
Duties also include annual and A-133 audits and financial analyses as needed.
The individual should be proficient in accounting management software (preferably Intacct) and payroll processing software (preferably Paycor).

Must have exceptional attention to detail to continually improve accuracy and consistency processing payroll every two weeks.
Position requires strict confidentiality of records.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Position requires good verbal and written skills.
Demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Process bi-weekly payroll timely.
Collect and summarize timekeeping information.
Obtain supervisory approval for overtime and timecard discrepancies.
Process and issue annual W-2 forms to employees.
Timely update of employee payroll database with status changes.
Coordinate employee information with department supervisors and HR Manager.
Process payroll garnishment and other deductions.
Process periodic 403(b) and HSA documentation and payments.
Maintain related payroll files.
Assist Accounting Supervisor with month-end activities and internal audit.
Perform timely account reconciliations as assigned.
Maintain financial records and ensure transactions are recorded correctly.
Provide financial analyses as requested.
Act as back-up to accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable as assigned by Accounting Supervisor or Controller.
POSITION CLASSIFICATION, TYPE & EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is an on-site, full-time, salary exempt, 40 hours per week position.
The core CCSEM business days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.
m.
to 5 p.
m.
This position may require long hours and may include evening and weekend obligations.
