We are currently looking to add a skilled Bookkeeper/Cost Accountant to join our team! This is an onsite position in Sterling Heights, MI.
Job purpose
Responsible for accounts payable/receivable functions, general bookkeeping, and financial budgeting/reporting for a growing business with multi-company transaction processing.
Duties and responsibilities
General Accounts Receivable Functions
Prepare and submit customer invoices working with both TMW and CMS systems
Code, post, and receipt payments
Perform all necessary account, bank, and other reconciliations
Monitor customer accounts for non-payment and delayed payment
General Accounts Payable Functions
Check, verify and process invoices
Sort, code and enter accounts payable data
Analyze discrepancies and unpaid invoices
Maintain vendor files
Issue internal purchase orders and assist with employee expense reports
General Support Functions
Record, analyze and provide financial data to upper management with insightful cost and forecast information
Develop and implement new accounting processes as needed for continued improvement and operational continuity
Update, verify and maintain accounting journals and ledgers and other financial records
Generate and provide reports upon request
Lead and assist in month end reporting procedures
Find and use accounting data to resolve accounting problems and discrepancies
Perform filing and general administrative tasks
Liaise with both our parent company and other departments/customers/vendors
Take documents and reports to offsite facilities, run small errands
Qualifications include:
3-5 years related accounting work experience in logistics/transportation extremely helpful
Associate degree in business, finance or accounting; Bachelor's degree is an advantage
Attention to detail and accuracy a must; organized and analytical
Comfortable with math and calculations; aptitude for numbers
Proficient in MS Office applications
Self-starter who can thrive in an unstructured work environment with minimal supervision
Knowledge of accounting software, such as CMS, or ability to adapt quickly helpful
Solid computer literacy
Other notable information: This is a full-time position.
Days and hours of work are Monday-Friday, 7:30AM-3:30PM, although may vary based on workload and work outside of the office.
