Position Title: Interventionist Funding Source: General Fund Reports To: This position reports to and is evaluated by the School Principal.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree Michigan Teacher Certification with subject area endorsement At least three (3) years of successful, high quality, teaching experience with excellent performance ratings Master’s Degree or beyond in curriculum and instruction, preferred Position Description: The Academic Interventionist utilizes data to provide targeted academic intervention to identified students as individuals or in a small group setting.
Position Responsibilities: The Interventionist supports campus-based MTSS implementation through collaboration and consultation with general and special educators, development and implementation of student interventions, and coordination of MTSS practices, data collection, and data review.
The Interventionist will be responsible for creating partnerships with teachers to provide push-in and pull-out support, and oversee paperwork for Tier III and Tier II students.
Provide differentiated instruction in reading and/or mathematics to individual students or small groups of students; Develop and implement Tier I, II, and III interventions and supports.
Provide initial and ongoing training and consultation to general-education teachers for implementation of Tier I and Tier II supports.
Support data reviews to assist teachers in making tier placement decisions.
Help shape and develop a school-wide atmosphere that best suits the needs of our students, teachers, and families.
Communicate regularly with parents and teachers regarding the progress of the students on their caseload.
Meet desired goals/benchmarks on district-wide, state, and national assessments and measures of growth Collaborate with district Special Education teams as needed for student referrals.
Use data from standardized tests, diagnostic assessments, classroom observations and course grades to develop an intervention plan that will accelerate academic progress; Other duties and responsibilities as designated by the School Principal.
Required Competencies & Skills: Achieve results by taking risks and reflecting and acting on lessons learned; Maintain drive for results by demonstrating persistence, directness, and the ability to monitor and plan ahead; Possess the aptitude to discuss subject specific content instruction and the drive to try out new ideas to improve student learning; Achieve outstanding student achievement results in a short amount of time; Strong attention to detail; Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills; Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships and work effectively in a collaborative environment; Possess a track record of leadership, integrity, initiative, curiosity and perseverance; Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written), interpret policy and procedures, maintain emotional control under stress; Desire to continuously learn and increase effectiveness as a teacher and professional; offer and receive constructive feedback; Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel and the Google Suite Physical Requirements: Light Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects; Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling.
Terms of Employment: Salary benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan.
Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the School Principal in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
