*Minimum Qualifications:*
1.
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate preferred or a bachelor's degree with enrollment in a teacher preparation program
2.
Endorsement to teach students with Cognitive impairments, preferred.
Will accept endorsements in the areas of Emotional Impairments, Autism or willing to pursue education to obtain endorsement
3.
Background in child development with special emphasis on language, communication, and cognitive development
4.
Understanding of behavioral intervention techniques
5.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
6.
Prior Special Education teaching experience, preferred
7.
With training, is able to implement emergency seclusion and restraint procedures
8.
Strong interpersonal skills required

*Responsibilities*:
1.
Provides effective individualized instruction and services to address the academic, social and physical needs to post-secondary level students with significant developmental disabilities as well as behavioral and/or medical concerns
2.
Develop and implement curriculum and instructional strategies related to Life Skills Instruction, Career & Vocational Curricula, Structured Work Experience, and Assessment and Support Services
3.
Implement targeted instruction addressing IEP goals.
4.
Assess student progress in the curriculum and within IEP goals and objectives
5.
Work cooperatively with the administration, multidisciplinary team, special education colleagues, families, and agencies to provide appropriate services for assigned students.
6.
Assure student safety and the safety of others by implementing only approved Positive Behavior Support methods and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention techniques to address behavioral issues when required.
7.
Provide service and maintain records, including Medicaid billing, according to compliance standards established for the district, state, and federal rules, regulations, and procedures
8.
Coordinate necessary meetings and paperwork, including METs and IEPs for caseload students.
9.
Provide necessary support, communication, direction, and feedback to assigned paraprofessional staff.
10.
Maintain regular, positive communication with parents and other Lamphere Center staff regarding caseload students.
11.
Demonstrate computer literacy
12.
Participate in professional development, student staffings, program committees, and other meetings as directed by the supervisor
13.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Services
