*POSITION DETAILS*
Provide students with individualized assistance to help them learn new concepts and complete assignments.
*Tutor needed for Mon.
, Wed.
, Thursday, and Friday (until the end of the year).
*Hours are from 3:00p-7/8pm; follows school calendar for holidays and scheduled breaks.
*(Starting in January the hours will remain the same, but the days will be Tuesday - Friday)*
*JOB PURPOSE*
Help students learn by, reviewing content with students, explaining how to solve problems and checking completed work | Assist students develop study skills and organization techniques to help improve their academic performance | Identify additional supports and resources needed for youth to successfully complete homework and/or projects | Keep timely records of students’ afterschool program attendance, individual academic progress, communication logs, and other documentation as required | Oversee groups of students during the program by providing discipline and serving as a role model | Providing a safe, nurturing and optimal learning environment for all youth participating in the program
*DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
Participates in meetings, assisting elementary and/or high school students with assignments, test prep, curriculum activities, be willing to minimally obtain required trainings such as CPR, First Aid, Blood- borne Pathogens, and CPI certification | Attends other related training (provided by DIC) such as Trauma Smart.
Promotes the spirit of teamwork | Strive to continuously improve the quality of DIC and self | Accepts cultural and individual differences, upholds the vision and mission of DIC | Active participant in all DIC initiatives to achieve these goals
*WORKING CONDITIONS *Variety of environments such as classroom and outdoors
*QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE: *Working with students grades K-12th, preferably elementary and in math.
Comfortable assisting with homework, projects, and planned curriculum.
\*Knowledge or background in education, behavior management, engaging children is a plus!
*REQUIREMENTS *Associate degree; any degree in progress; experience working with children ages K-12th grades.
*REQUIRED *Strong written, communication, and interpersonal skills *|* Ability to work as a team member and independently.
*SKILLS *Computer literate/technologically sound *|* Excellent organizational, problem solving, and decision-making skills | Thorough knowledge of a specific academic subject or expertise in test preparation | Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly explain challenging concepts, provide instructions and deliver feedback | Ability to motivate and encourage students to improve their academic performance using effective goal-setting strategies | Creativity and flexibility in order to personalize their learning approach for individual students | Patience and compassion for students as they develop skills and improve their performance | Previous demonstrated excellence in the academic subject they plan to tutor in or the test they’re helping students prepare for | Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to work with a diverse population as well as “high-risk” youth and families | Ability to develop well-rounded, behavioral interventions

Pay: $30.
