Job Title: Educator
Job Status: Full-time
Job Summary: Under limited supervision, the Educator uses intermediate skills obtained through experience and training to conduct educational tours for adults, students and organizations (public and private).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct educational tours at the museum
Prepare presentations and educational materials for educators and students including presentations on the history and contributions of Arab Americans
Conduct presentations regarding the Arab American culture both onsite at the Museum as well as other locations (schools, community events, conferences, etc.
)
Assist with the implementation of youth programs and may lead on some programs
Research information regarding various exhibits and present to audiences as appropriate
Schedule and coordinate museum visits
Establish and maintain contact with various clientele requesting museum tours including schools, teachers and various civic organizations
Maintain records of visitors including payment and invoicing information
Assist as needed with reviewing grant content and ensuring requirements are met
Assist as needed with gathering information for grant reporting and writing reports for various grants
Plan events to increase the number of visitors to the museum
Operate standard office equipment and use required software applications
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
Fundamental concepts, principles and practices of Arab American, Ethnic and Middle Eastern history and current events
Skill in:
Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications for program area and other applications, including Microsoft Office
Ability to:
Partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectives
Develop and deliver public presentations
Interpret and apply policies and identify and recommend changes as appropriate
Organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization
Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
Minimum Degree Required:
Bachelor’s degree
Required Disciplines:
Education, Middle Eastern Studies/Arabic or related field

At least one to two years working as an educator
Experience of working with children/students is a preferred
Any equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training approved by Human Resources

Working Conditions:
Hours: Normal business hours, some additional hours may be required
Travel Required: None generally required; Local, in-state, national, and international travel, up to 5%
