*OVERVIEW*
As a K-8 Classroom Learning Assistant for the 2024/2025 school year, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and social-emotional development of our students in and around Detroit.
You will work closely with identified students, providing one-on-one, small group or classroom support to help them excel in literacy and math.
In addition, you will create and implement behavior management systems and foster social-emotional skills using proven strategies that you will receive paid training to learn.
Collaboration with teachers and other staff members will be essential as you collect, record, analyze, and monitor individual student progress.
*RESPONSIBILITIES*
* Work with identified students to develop literacy and math skills.
* Tailor learning activities to meet student’s level, answer questions, and encourage assignment completion.
* Create and implement a behavior management system to support students.
* Develop social-emotional skills through strategic learning, practice, reflection, and repetition.
* Collaborate with teachers and team members to collect, record, analyze, and monitor individual student progress.
* Participate in facilitated reviews of student data using provided student data system.
* Collaborate with teachers to create an engaging, safe, and healthy classroom environment.
*ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES*
* Support and/or conduct extended day and virtual programming for students, including academic enrichment, homework support, and recreation.
* Organize student clubs, service learning projects, and leadership development activities.
* Create, support, and/or co-lead events or programs that recognize and appreciate student growth in math, literacy, attendance, and behavior.
* Engage students, parents/guardians, and community members in educational and social issues through themed events at schools or virtual platforms.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of students and are committed to our mission.
To be eligible, you must:
* Be a *17-25 *year old U.
S.
citizen or legal permanent resident (Authorization to work in the U.
S.
is not sufficient.
Those with DACA status unfortunately are not eligible at this time).
* Have a GED or high school diploma
* Have served no more than three terms in a national program for teachers/ta's/coaches
* Agree to complete a background check - _Nonviolent felons okay to apply!_
* Live in Detroit for the 2024/2025 school year beginning Aug 1, 2024
