Academic Advisor I/II - Biological Sciences
Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Academic Advisor I/II - Biological Sciences at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):
Academic advising of Biological Science majors with Major, Honors and Minor requirements Assist students with declaration of
Biology major
Approving overrides for students to register for classes.
Certifying students for graduation.
Enforcing the Biological Sciences prerequisite policy with students.
Planning and executing student recruitment events.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required for Academic Advisor I.
Master's degree required for Academic Advisor II.
Preference will be given to candidates with 1-3 years of relevant experience in higher education including some of the following areas:
Academic advising curricular planning, student affairs, enrollment services, or directly related experience.
Experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Demonstrated commitment to foster student success through mentoring and appreciative advising.
Experience with mentoring and establishing rapport with students of all backgrounds.
Successful experience interacting with students, faculty, and the public.
Excellent interpersonal skills, strong work ethic, and the ability to act effectively as a team player.
· Excellent time management and organizational skills.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Willingness to work some evenings and weekends.
· Computer literacy required.
· Moderate to strong technology skills.
