*About Us:* Join our innovative STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Bioengineering program designed for students in grades 3-9.
Our curriculum integrates principles of bioengineering with a strong emphasis on agriculture, aquaponics, and materials science.
We are dedicated to providing interactive, hands-on learning experiences that foster curiosity, creativity, and a love for science and engineering.
*Location:* Glazer Elementary & Highland Park Rec Center (Location varies depending on the day for after-school program).
Summer Program will be held at the Highland Park Rec Center.
*Schedule:* After-School Program: Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM (Now until June 2024).
Summer Camp: June 23, 2024 - August 2, 2024, Monday to Thursday from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM *Overview: *We are seeking a dynamic and passionate English Language Arts (ELA) teacher to join our innovative STEAM Bioengineering program, specifically designed for students in grades 3-9.
This unique position combines the creativity of ELA with the explorative nature of science, offering an enriching experience for both the educator and the students.
The successful candidate will facilitate after school sessions during the academic year and a more intensive program over the summer, engaging students with a curriculum that integrates ELA and Science, with a particular focus on informational text related to agriculture, aquaponics, and materials science.
*Responsibilities* * Design and implement engaging ELA lessons that integrate principles of bioengineering, focusing on agriculture, aquaponics, and materials science.
* Scaffold instruction to meet the diverse needs of students in grades 3-9, ensuring accessibility and challenge for all learners.
* Conduct small group and hands-on activities to reinforce learning and maintain student engagement.
* Foster a positive learning environment, building strong relationships with students to support their academic and social-emotional development.
* Collaborate effectively with a team of educators to create interdisciplinary lessons that meet the goals of our STEAM program.
* Prepare students for presentations and projects that will be showcased during the final celebration at the end of the summer program.
* Employ effective classroom management strategies to facilitate a productive learning environment.
* Communicate clearly and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
*Qualifications* * Certification in English Language Arts (ELA) for grades 3-9.
* Demonstrated ability to scaffold instruction and manage small group learning.
* Experience with or willingness to learn about integrating bioengineering concepts into ELA instruction.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to build relationships with students.
* Effective classroom management skills.
* Team-oriented with a collaborative spirit.
