*About Us:* Join our innovative STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Bioengineering program designed for students in grades 3-9.
Our curriculum integrates principles of bioengineering with a strong emphasis on agriculture, aquaponics, and materials science.
We are dedicated to providing interactive, hands-on learning experiences that foster curiosity, creativity, and a love for science and engineering.
*Location:* Glazer Elementary & Highland Park Rec Center (Location varies depending on the day for after-school program).
Summer Program will be held at the Highland Park Rec Center.
*Schedule:* After-School Program: Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM (Now until June 2024).
Summer Camp: Once a week, 12:30 PM - 5:00 PM (June 23 - August 6, 2024)
*Overview: *We are seeking a passionate and skilled Chess Coach to join our after-school program and summer camp team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chess, with the ability to teach students ranging from beginners to advanced levels.
This role requires someone who can inspire and motivate students while promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills through the game of chess.
*Responsibilities*
*After-School Program (Now until June 2024):*
* Conduct engaging chess sessions twice a week for students in grades 3 to 9.
* Develop lesson plans that cater to various skill levels, from beginner to advanced.
* Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel supported and challenged.
* Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to promote development and a deeper understanding of chess.
* Organize and oversee chess matches and tournaments to enhance competitive play and sportsmanship.
*STEAM Bioengineering Summer Camp (June 23 - August 6, 2024):*
* Lead weekly chess sessions that integrate principles of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) with a focus on bioengineering concepts.
* Collaborate with STEAM educators to develop a curriculum that highlights the connection between chess strategies and bioengineering problem-solving techniques.
* Encourage creativity and innovation through project-based learning and chess puzzles.
* Monitor and document student progress, adapting instruction to meet individual and group needs.
*Qualifications*
* Proven experience as a chess coach or instructor, with a strong understanding of chess strategies and teaching methodologies.
* Ability to engage and inspire students of diverse ages and skill levels.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A background in education, STEAM fields, or a related discipline is preferred.
* Patience, creativity, and a positive attitude.
* Must pass a background check.
