Minimum Qualifications
Must be non-judgmental, responsible, reliable, and act as a resource to students
Must possess strong verbal skills and the desire to interact with and present information to peers
Must demonstrate the ability to work with individuals and groups in a leadership capacity
Must demonstrate excellent communication skills both within the team and to the campus community
Must be willing to attend any and all orientations, training’s & meetings that pertain to being a Wellness Ambassador
Must be willing to attend cultural sensitivity and mental health training’s as they arise
Desired Qualifications
Position Purpose
Wellness Ambassadors are front line staff members of University Recreation and Well-Being who help share health and safety information campus-wide.
Ambassadors represent the department at tabling events, presentations and through other unique ways of engaging students, faculty and staff in educational opportunities to encourage healthy behaviors.
Job Duties
Learn the basics of prevention, health & well-being, strategies for change in high-risk behaviors, listening skills as well as responding & referral skills
Research, develop, and execute interactive, positive, fun and non-judgmental programming for the OU campus community
Create awareness of health topics affecting OU students through such means as poster and social media campaigns, newsletters, Public Service Announcements, one-on-one interactions, tabling at health education initiatives, workshops/presentations and programs, along with general availability through program participation
